Exercise Rover Gang was a competition between several groups of young officers from Malaya, Hong Kong and Singapore. Each team had a Landrover and were given various tasks taking them the length of Malaya, including stripping the Rover to fit in an aircraft, river crossing, map reading and general physical and team ability. The illustrated winning team were –
John Lamb Martin Ough-dealy Roy Davies
Jim Moore Mike Day Ian Stark
The photo was taken at 221 BVD in South Johore If required I have several other photos of activities and one of the DS controlling the exercise.

    James,
I just came across the photo of the Rover Gang team you posted!
Is there a description of the exercise anywhere on line? I note the IWMuseum have something but I haven’t been able to acess the file yet.
I would love to see what other photos you have. I have a pic of the two of us outside the mess in Pandan.
I moved to Australia at the end of the ’60’s and live in Sydney.
    Best, Mike Day
